Political science was one among the few subjects, with which our college was established in 1956. The Political Science department began with Smt. Alpana Sen, who was later joined by Smt. Indira Dasgupta and Smt. Krishna Duttagupta, as students number increased. In 1965, the Honours course was sanctioned, number of permanent posts increased and more teachers joined the department — Smt. Kana Sengupta , Smt. Latika Basu, Smt. Reba Chatterjee and Smt. Rama Chakraborty. The department now came to have five full time, hard working teachers, a well equipped library, a departmental room with a departmental library for honours students.
