From the Convenors’ Desk:
The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is being introduced in West Bengal State University at undergraduate level from the coming academic session 2018-19. Along with other subjects, the syllabus of Physics is being updated making it compatible with the guidelines of University Grant Commission and West Bengal State Council of Higher Education. A number of new experiments have been included in the newly framed syllabus in Physics, both in Honours as well as in General programme. In continuation of the series of workshops on this syllabus arranged by the Physics Department, WBSU, this workshop is focussed on the experimental component of the syllabus, which is being held by a joint collaboration of the Department of Physics, WBSU and the Department of Physics, SNCW . In this workshop the most of the newly introduced experiments in first two semesters are to be demonstrated. In addition to that, some initial discussion on the experimental part of the Electronics component (which is included in 3rd and 4th semester part of the syllabus) is to be taken place in ‘hands on’ mode.
Apart from the all round co-operation from our teaching and non-teaching colleagues in the University and in the affiliated colleges under WBSU, we want to specially acknowledge —
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of WBSU and respected Principal of SNCW for their all round support including the financial support for organising this workshop.
Vice-Chancellor’s office and Finance section of WBSU for the speedy disposal of the partial financial support for organising this workshop.
The Principal’s office, Bursar and IQAC of SNCW for the smooth processing of the partial financial support and for providing us with the physical infrastructure, including laboratory equipments, required.
RKMVC College, Rahara and their Principal for providing us with one of their laboratory equipments on loan, specially for this workshop.
Saha Scientific Suppliers for providing one of their equipments in connection with its demonstration only and their support regarding the stationeries in workshop kit and regarding some part of the hospitality.
